Born and raised in New York, to musician parents, Michael Valerio began his professional career at the age of ten, singing on children’s educational records.
He received his formal education at the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University. In 1996, he joined the New World Symphony as co-principal bass under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. Mr. Valerio relocated to Los Angeles in 1999, where he maintains an active schedule as a studio bassist in the film, television, and record industries.
Michael Valerio can be heard on hundreds of film scores and albums. He has performed as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestras. He is a member of the crossover group Flexible Reality, which features Rick Todd, Alex Acuna, Charlie Bisharat, Abe Laboriel and Frank Marocco.
Mr. Valerio resides in Eagle Rock California with his cat Gooch. Together, they spend their free time napping, as well as recording and producing independent musical acts from around the world.
